Experiencing STI Symptoms?
If you’ve had unprotected sex or a change in partners, you need to get tested for STIs. If you’ve had unprotected sex or a change in partners, you need to get tested for STIs. Chlamydia & Gonorrhea often have “no symptoms” and can be easily tested and treated with medication. If untreated, these STIs may cause PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) and infertility. Also, abortion procedures performed when an STI is present can increase the risk for pelvic inflammatory disease and the potential for other complications.
Some of the most common symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection or disease include, but are not limited to:
-
Unusual Discharge From the Vagina or Penis
-
Strong Vaginal Odor
-
Itching or Irritation in the Inside of the Vagina or Penis
-
Pain During Sexual Intercourse
-
Painful Urination
-
Unexplained Rash
-
Lesions or ulcers
-
Enlarged lymph nodes
-
Body aches or fever
Many people have an undiagnosed sexually transmitted infection without symptoms and continue to spread it to others. Regular testing is an important step to maintain your overall health and future.
5 Reasons To Get Tested For STIs This Week
1. If you’ve recently had unprotected sex, including oral or anal sex, you are at risk.
2. If you’ve had a change in partners, getting tested should be one of the first things you do. Do not rely on their word. Condoms are not 100% effective at protecting against STIs.
3. If you have experienced itching or burning in your pelvic area or any of the above-mentioned STI symptoms, you need to get tested before engaging in any sexual activity.
4. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, an STI needs to be ruled out or treated as a health measure.
5. If you have scheduled an abortion or are considering taking abortion pills. Rule out or treat an infection before taking any drugs or continuing with a surgical procedure. This can prevent further complications.
Caring Hearts offers urine testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Trichomonas, which are the most common sexually transmitted infections in Arkansas. We currently provide STI testing services for female clients. However, in the event of a positive STI result, female clients may inform their sexual partner, and they may also schedule an appointment to receive treatment at no cost.
