When I first came to Caring Hearts I was in a very stressful situation. I wasn’t married and pregnant. For those who know my family, that’s just about the biggest failure you can do in your life. I never in my life thought that I would’ve been where I was and I was very ashamed. I had just been fired from my job and moved away from my best friend on top of it all.
The guy who would soon be my husband was full of empty promises... I moved in with my family to have their support throughout my pregnancy, even though I really didn’t want to. After I got moved in, my Mom started looking on the internet for places that gave professional pregnancy tests, for proof for Medicaid that I was pregnant. That’s where we stumbled across Caring Hearts.
Upon arriving at Caring Hearts, we were treated very warm and friendly. The impact of how they treated my ashamed and pregnant, unmarried self was extremely heart touching. Especially since they’re a Christian facility and my knowledge of how judgements and attitudes of women usually are. I spoke with a lovely woman named Karen about my predicament and she offered me understanding and care. She told me about classes I could be a part of that would help get me back on the right track with God, plus I could earn a cute currency they called “Mommy Bucks” to spend in their store for mothers in need. I agreed to attend the 1st lesson to see what it was like and Jordan, who was my fiancé at the time, agreed to come too.
What I learned and experienced in that first class was so impactful that it kept me attending the classes once a week every Tuesday to this day. Jordan felt the same and hasn’t missed coming with me. The lessons
