The Caring Hearts Pregnancy Center and Bible study has meant the most to me. I can’t even explain how grateful I am for the center and the people in it. They are truly loving, caring and helpful. They have helped me more than I could have ever imagined. I’m not ready for the Bible study with my mentor, Mrs. Dianna, to be over. When I first started the Bible study, I was going through something terrible. I had lost my twins father so that meant my twins would never meet their father. The thought of that alone destroyed me until I spent time with Mrs. Dianna in Bible Study. She helped me get closer to God. As I got closer to Him, I saw that with Him, anything is possible.
Over the last seven lessons with my wonderful mentor, Mrs. Dianna, I’ve learned that it is the greatest thing in the world to have a relationship with God. My relationship with God is now stronger than it has ever been. In lesson 1, I learned about who God is and that He has many characteristics. My God is worthy, faithful, compassionate, gracious, patient, holy, all powerful, and wise. He is all seen and He created us all to be fearfully and wonderfully made. He knew me before He created me. I learned that God loves me and all His children beyond all reasons or doubts.
In Lesson 2, I learned “there is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no rock like our God. “ I also learned that being holy means that you are set apart from evil and God is holy and man is sinful and that man is sinful because he is untruthful, selfish, has a temper, not nice and wrong-doing.
In lesson 3, I learned that God loves me. He gave His son, Jesus to be crucified on the cross for our sins. They covered the opening of His tomb with a large stone and three days later Jesus rose from the dead. I learned that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us of our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
In lesson 4, I learned one of the things Christ’s death accomplished, justification and what Christ does for us. Christ takes care of our dirty rags of sin and gives us new clothes, His robe of perfect righteousness. Isaiah 64:6 says, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like garments; we all shrivel up like a leaf and like the wind our sins sweep us away.” Isaiah 61:10 says, “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God, for He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.”
In lesson 5, I learned about God’s design and purpose. 1 Peter1:14-16 states, “As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desire you had when you lived in ignorance; but just as he who called you is holy, so be yourself in all you do; for it is written: be holy, because I am holy.” I learned that the laws of God are perfect.
In lesson 6, I learned about what the Bible is, why the Bible is important, how we should use the bible, what is prayer, why prayer is important and how to pray. You can pray at any time or any place. Prayer deepens as you grow in your relationship with God.
In lesson 7, I learned about God’s promise which says He will always keep His promise for those who are obedient to His word. He won’t fail or forsake us. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 43:1-3 explains, “But now, this is what the Lord says—He who created you, Jacob, He who formed you Israel: Do not fear for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire you will not be scorched, the flames will not set you a blaze for I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior.”
